"One to two weeks" is a fair answer to how long onboarding takes, but it doesn't say much about what actually happens during that time. Here's the day-by-day version.

Days 1 to 5: you meet the shortlist

Within the first five days, you meet a shortlist of candidates, not a generalist pool assembled at random, but people who already know the tools relevant to your work. You interview them and make the call on fit.

Day 3: scope signed

Around day three, the scope gets signed. Both sides walk away knowing exactly what's in and what's out, so there's no ambiguity later about what the engagement covers.

Week 1: daily reports

Through the first week, you receive daily reports. You see the work happening in real time while the team is still learning your process, rather than waiting until the end of onboarding to find out how things are going.

Week 2: first visible result

By week two, there's a first visible result: something actually done, not something promised for later. That's the point where onboarding stops being a plan and starts being work you can look at.

An illustrative example (not an actual client)

Picture a business that starts the process on a Monday. By Friday of that first week, the owner has interviewed and picked a candidate from the shortlist, and the scope was signed a couple of days earlier. Daily reports start landing in the inbox that same week, and by the second Friday, the first completed piece of work, a cleaned-up backlog of customer tickets, is sitting in front of the owner rather than still being a promise on a call.

This is a worked example to illustrate how the two-week timeline typically plays out. It is not a real TechMinions client story.
